Home > Family History > 1850 US Census
The 1850 Census was the first federal census that listed every individual within a household. It is a good source of information on individuals, many of whom do not appear in earlier records. This is also a point where family memory fades out. We knew of many of these individuals from information passed down in the family but not much before this point. The individuals alive in the 1850s serve as a good base to build out from.
