The Dothan Eagle, Dothan, Alabama, Friday July 19, 1935, p. 12. "Mrs. D. F. Knighton Passes at Shellman — Mrs. D. F. Knighton, formerly of Dothan, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. S. Sauls, at Shellman Ga., Wednesday of injuries suffered as the result of a fall on July 7. She was 91. Besides the daughter at whose home she died, Mrs. Knighton is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. D. A. Trammell, Dothan, Mrs. C. B. Lynch, Lumpkin, Ga., and Mrs. J. D. Watkins Cairo, Ga.; and two sons, J. P. Knighton, Shellman, and C. A. Knighton, Hilton, Ga. Mrs. Knighton was born in Shellman but lived in Dothan for many years."
