- "John Wesley Jamerson, 69, died on December 31, 2021, at the Charles George V.A. medical Center in Asheville, NC. A resident of Brevard, North Carolina, He was the son of the late William Stanley and Annie Mae Fisher Jamerson. N addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Linda Wilgen Carland and his brother Douglas Wayne “Blackjack” Jamerson.
John is survived by his brothers Howard Stephen Jamerson and Robert Keith Jamerson, and his sisters Billie Dianne Nicholson and Rita Carol Long, all of Brevard, and Ella Jacobs of Poulsbro, Washington. His sister, Billie Nicholson, provided personal care for John for the last fourteen years.
John, a United States Army Veteran, served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his military service he had planned to enter full-time Christian service, but his wartime experiences created problems that prevented that. John was a founding member of New Hope Baptist Church. He devoted himself to daily Bible study and never missed an opportunity to vote. He studied drafting at Blue Ridge Community College and was employed by Brevard Sheet Metal Works, a business created by his grandfather, Floyd W. Jamerson.
In his childhood and youth, John was known as a mischief maker, which led to problems at home and school. Stories of that mischief are still shared by family members. During his lifetime he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had a great love for the outdoors, for Pisgah National Forest and for the French Broad River. One of John’s many hobbies was polishing and cutting stones, some of which he placed in pieces of jewelry. John enjoyed music and had great respect for the national flag, saluting it frequently.
Graveside services for John Jamerson will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
John’s family is especially grateful to the hospice staff at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville for the care he received. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Hospice, VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805 or to New Hope Baptist Church, 78 Good Neighbor Drive, Brevard, NC 28712." — https://www.moore-fh.com/obituary/John-Jamerson
