He loved hunting and fishing. I remember stuffed animals at his house, a mink up on the fireplace mantel, a white squirrel, a bass. Grandma Jamerson (Ella Mae Case) said that he made notches on his gun stock when he was a kid for each different type of animal he shot. Once she told him to come to supper and he said just a minute, he saw a red bird nearby and hadn't got a red bird yet. He used to build rabbit gums and showed me once how to make them. He set one up behind Grandma's garage to catch a possum that we kept seeing at night. Once he caught a bobcat in a gum and put it in the back of his truck to bring and show to us kids—that cat was angry! He had a cabin up in the woods and set up a bear bait with honey and a log near the cabin. He showed it to me one time when I rode up to the cabin with him.
