Deceased Was Chaplain of Zeb Vance Camp, U. C. V., for Many Years—Funeral Services Held Tomorrow.
Daniel W. Cauble, chaplain of Zeb camp, United Confederate Veterans, died yesterday morning at 5 o'clock at his residence, 436 Broadway, after an illness of several months.
Mr. Cauble was born near Salisbury, January 1, 1843, and came to Buncombe county in his early youth and at the close of the war between the states he located in Asheville and has lived at his present home ever since. He married Miss Susan H. Aiken in 1872, who survives him. He is also survived by four children, Mrs. R. M. Collins, Mrs. P. D. Manley, and J C. and J. E. Cauble, all of Asheville, and also one brother and one sister.
Comrades of the deceased say he was one of the bravest soldiers of the Confederacy, and he had been chaplain of the Zeb Vance camp for many years. Last year the camp presented him iwth a beautiful silver service. Yesterday at the celebration of Jefferson Davis' birthday at Mrs. Eugene B. Glenn's residence, eulogies were spoken by members of the camp and Daughters of the Confederacy.
