He was my biological second cousin but my adoptive first cousin. He had autism. He died from covid-19 complications in the hospital about 30 mintes (2:03 PM) after they took him off of a heart-lung bypass machine. His mother died when he was young and his grandmother Zura King (who I knew as Aunt Zura, asked Peggy Owens (my Aunt Peggy) to adopt him, which she did.

"Joshua Dean Owens, 40, of Hendersonville died Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Mission Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Hendersonville, he was the son of Eddie Owens and the late Peggy Owens. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his [biological] maternal grandparents, Otto and Zura King. A graduate of East Henderson High School Class of 99, Josh was an employee of Wendy's and a member of Upward Baptist Church; Gethsemane Baptist Church was his second church. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and watching videos. In addition to his father, Eddie, he leaves behind his sister, Rhonda Blackwell and her husband, David; brother Danny Owens; neice, Kiara Owens; and a number of other family members and friends. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 18th at Upward Bapstist Church with the Reverands Wilburn Lefler and Danny Pridmore. Interment will take place in Kings Grove Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. The family will recieve friends one hour prior to the service at the church."
