May 15, 1811
In the name of God, Amen, I Shadrick Deen of the State of Georgia & County of Jackson being very much afflicted in body tho of perfect mind & memory thanks be to, God, calling into mind it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will & testament that is to say, in the first place I give & recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it & may I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a descent Christian manner at the discretion of my executor & as touching such of my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give desire & dispose of in the following manner and form
First, I give & bequeath to Mourning, my dearly beloved wife, three hundred & ninety six Acres of land in Elbert & Franklin County. Granted to Watkins Also — two feather beds & furniture & all my household furniture & one bay horse & gray mare, all my cattle & hogs except two cows & calves during her natural life & my children that is now under age have the privelige of continuing with her as they now do, free of expence. Secondly I give to Arche my son one grey mare bridle & saddle & one cow & calf & one hundred acres of land where I now live granted to Robert Montgomery, the land bequethed to my wife at her decease is to revert to Thomas, Jacob, Shadrick, John & Frederick. But the other property bequeathed to her, to be at her disposal, & to my daughter Eupharance I give one Cow & calf one feather bed & furniture. It is also my will that all my just debts be paid out of the property I have willed & given to my wife. I do hereby constitute make & appoint my son Shadrick Deen executor of this my last will & testament confirming this & this only to be my last will & testament in witness whereof I have herewith set my hand & seal this fifteenth day of May 1811.
